Telangana Governor Felicitates Republic Day Awardees

On Tuesday Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan felicitated Santoshi, the widow of Col. Santosh Babu, and her children at Raj Bhavan, a day after he was conferred with Maha Vir Chakra posthumously.

The Maha Vir Chakra is the second highest gallantry award awarded to the Col. Babu who laid down his life fighting against the Chinese troops in Galwan Valley last year.

Shikha Goel, Additional Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad and N. Shiva shaker Reddy, Inspector-General of Police, Nizamabad Range were felicitated on being selected for the prestigious President's Police Medals. Lt. General TSA Narayanan, Commandant of Military College of EME, Secunderabad for bein awarded Ati Vishishta Seva Medal was felicitated by the governor.

Besides, Chadalavada Hemesh, a 13-year-old who developed a wearable device for Alzheimer's patients, was felicitated by the governor after been awarded Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar.

Due to the pandemic, a virtual At Home was hosted by the governor for the inmates of Bala Sadan to congratulate them for their diligent efforts and motivate them for their dreams. Dr Soundararajan also assured children that they would be invited to the Raj Bhavan and would treat them as soon as the conditions become normal.

The governor said, “This is the happiest and memorable Republic Day for me, as I interacted with the inmates of Bala Sadans. They are having great confidence, communication skills and the dreams to realise and goals to achieve to serve the underprivileged in future.”

The Governor appreciated the dedicated services of the winners which bought laurels to the state and the country.

During the virtual At Home, some children were seen exhibiting their singing talents and narrate their stories and dreams to the governor.
